FAQ — EVG Excavating and Hauling

Question 1

How do I get a quote?

Accepted Answer

The easiest way is to fill out our quote request form on the Contact page. Give us a quick description of the job, your location, and a rough timeline — we'll follow up fast. For larger or more complex projects, we'll schedule a site visit before putting numbers together.

Question 2

Is there a charge for estimates?

Accepted Answer

No. Estimates are free. We'll come out, take a look, and give you a clear number before any work begins. No surprises.

Question 3

What factors affect the cost of a project?

Accepted Answer

Scope and site conditions are the two biggest factors — how much material needs to move, how accessible the site is, what equipment is required, and how long the job will take. We price jobs fairly and explain every line item before you sign anything.

Question 4

Do you require a deposit?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we typically require a deposit to schedule and hold your project date. The amount varies by job size. Full details are outlined in your quote before you commit.

Question 5

How far in advance should I book?

Accepted Answer

Spring and early summer book up fast. For larger excavating or hardscape projects, we recommend reaching out 4–6 weeks ahead. Hauling and smaller jobs can often be scheduled within a week or two depending on availability.

Question 6

How long does a typical project take?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the scope. A gravel delivery or small excavation might be a single day. A full interlock driveway or backyard hardscape project could run 3–7 days. We'll give you a realistic timeline in your quote and keep you updated if anything changes.

Question 7

Do you work in bad weather?

Accepted Answer

We work through most conditions, but safety and quality come first. Heavy rain, frozen ground, or unsafe site conditions may push a job. If weather affects your schedule, we'll contact you as early as possible to rebook.

Question 8

Where do you work?

Accepted Answer

We're based in Thorndale, Ontario and serve a wide area across Southwestern Ontario — including London, Thames Centre, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Brantford, Woodstock, Stratford, Ingersoll, and all communities in between. Not sure if you're in our area? Send us a message and we'll let you know.

Question 9

Do you travel outside your listed service area?

Accepted Answer

We serve a broad area across Southwestern Ontario — London, the Waterloo Region, Cambridge, Guelph, Brantford, and all communities in between. For larger or specialized jobs, we'll go further. Reach out and we'll have an honest conversation about it.

Question 10

What services do you offer?

Accepted Answer

We specialize in hardscape and interlock, excavating and site prep, hauling and material delivery, and landscape design. If your project touches the ground, there's a good chance we can help.

Question 11

Do you handle permits?

Accepted Answer

Permit requirements vary by municipality and project type. We'll flag if your job is likely to need one and can advise on the process, but pulling permits is typically the homeowner's responsibility. We're happy to provide documentation or specs to support your application.

Question 12

Do you clean up after the job?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We leave the site clean and tidy when we're done. That means debris removed, excess material hauled away, and the surrounding area restored as close to original condition as the work allows.

Question 13

Are you insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes, EVG Excavating and Hauling carries full liability insurance. We're happy to provide proof of insurance on request before work begins.
